During the German occupation the Belarus teacher Ales Moroz does not leave his pupils, fostering the will and the courage in them. Once the students having disobeyed his teacher, decide to avenge their parents. As a result of an unsuccessful attempt on the Nazi henchmen children are in captivity. Finding no support for the guerrillas, Ales decides to share the fate of his students and surrenders the enemy, which was seen as a betrayal after the war. Only one of his disciples, Paul Miklashevich, miraculously survived until the Victory Day. Continuing the work of the teacher, Paul devoted his life to restore the good name of Ales Moroz.
