The action takes place in a small town in Armenia at the beginning of the twentieth century. Martyn’s wife dies. His apple orchard and daughters are his only consolation. He hires a woman named Nunafar to help him but over time falls in love with her and wants to marry her. This fact turns his daughter nasty and one of them accidentally kills pregnant Nunufar. Martyn falls into despondence but in the end accepts everything as it was in sake of his daughters and grandchildren’s happiness.
