The events take place in a quiet town in the north of Italy. But it was only for the time being. A six year old girl went missing and the best Police Inspector Sanzio comes in quest for her. A local cop Sieboldi helps him in the investigation. The girl is found. But at that time they discover a corpse of a young local girl Anne near the lake. Trying to solve this crime, Sanzio faces terrifying secrets of the town, there are more suspects, and the situation is complicated by the fact that his family gets drawn in all these squabbles.
