1919. The Russian Empire collapsed, and there is a fierce and violent struggle for independence in Latvia. The remains of the imperial army, the German troops, formation of the Latvian Riflemen – everything mixed up in a bloody mess. Political games of those in power, the struggle of European countries for world domination, personal ambition of gifted and mediocre politicians and generals. But in the end there is blood and mud of war, destruction, suffering, death and broken lives of many Latvians, separated from their land and their families, but continuing a stubborn struggle for the freedom of their homeland.
