He takes the wager and leaves London in the company of his French servant Passepartout on a 8:45 p. m. train on 2 October 1872, vowing to return to that very place in 80 days - by 8:45 p. m. on 21 December 1872. Their dangerous and awkward worldwide adventure becomes even more complicated: Fogg and Passepartout are followed by an inspector named Fix. Being a secret agent of London's Reform Club, Fix has taken on a job to prevent Fogg’s winning the wager.
