When an elderly plumber Ivan Mityushkin understands that it's time to stop his "nomadic" lifestyle and find a good companion, he meets a widow, whose son is growing. Ivan finds the common language with the child, but the widow does not want to start any relationship with him. And she does it not because of a whim, but because of the memory about her deceased husband who still lives in her heart.
