Hungary — Germany
Hungary — Germany
Kick-off on 19.11.24 21:45.
On Tuesday, November 19, at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, a Nations League match between the Magical Magyars of Hungary and the German Bundesteam will take place as part of League A, group A3. Both teams aim to finish the group stage with a strong performance and improve their positions in the standings. The Magical Magyars, playing at home, will seek to use the support of their fans and demonstrate their attacking style. Hungary are determined to put up a fight against one of the strongest opponents and leave their supporters satisfied with the result. The Bundesteam, aware of the strength of the hosts on their home ground, will arrive in Budapest with the mindset to win and a desire to showcase their best qualities.

The Magical Magyars performed quite well in the previous UEFA Nations League campaign. Moreover, if the current Regulations had been in effect then, they would have played in the playoffs. However, two years ago, only one team from each group advanced, and the Italians, who were just one point ahead of Marco Rossi's team, emerged as winners. Nonetheless, the Magical Magyars managed to finish ahead of both the Germans and the English, with the latter even being relegated. Therefore, Hungary's performance was truly impressive and worthy of respect. However, those glorious times seem to be behind them. This summer, the Magical Magyars had an unconvincing showing at Euro 2024, exiting the tournament after the group stage. In their first two matches, Marco Rossi's team suffered defeats with a two-goal margin — 1-3 to Switzerland and 0-2 to the Bundesteam — although they did win 1-0 against Scotland, scoring the decisive goal just before the final whistle. However, this was not enough to advance to the playoffs. Hungary also had a poor start in the current Nations League campaign. In the opening match, the Magical Magyars were thrashed 0-5 by the Bundesteam in Düsseldorf, and a few days later, they surprisingly failed to defeat Bosnia at home, a team widely considered the group’s underdogs.
Julian Nagelsmann's team first demolished the Magical Magyars 5-0 and then drew 2-2 with their eternal rivals, the Netherlands, in Amsterdam. Interestingly, all seven goals were scored by seven different players: Füllkrug, Musiala, Wirtz, Pavlović, Havertz, Undav, and Kimmich. In fact, there is nothing unusual about this, as the current Bundesteam does not have a standout striker and relies mainly on the activity of their attacking midfielders, who know their job well. Away from home, the Bundesteam have won only four of their last thirteen matches. In the Nations League, their record is even more concerning: just one away win, against Ukraine in October 2020, 2-1. The Bundesteam have drawn their last four away Nations League matches: 1-1 against Italy and the Magical Magyars, 3-3 against England, and 2-2 against the Netherlands, while before that, there was a humiliating 0-6 defeat to Spain.
