The Kenshiro Teraji vs. Seigo Yuri Akui title unification fight in the flyweight division will take place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, Tokyo’s national sumo arena. The "Amazing Boy" won the vacant WBC belt in October by defeating Nicaragua’s Cristofer Rosales via an 11th-round stoppage. It was his debut bout in the 51 kg division. His opponent claimed the WBA world title last winter by beating Ukrainian boxer Artem Dalakian. Since then, the Kurashiki native has successfully defended his title twice. In the fall, he overcame Thailand’s Thananchai Charunphak, securing victory via a split decision.

The WBC titleholder made his professional debut in August 2014. Since then, the "Amazing Boy" has fought 26 times, suffering only one defeat. This will be his second fight at Ryogoku Kokugikan. In October 2017, he defeated Mexico’s Pedro Guevara at the same venue. Coincidentally, that fight was also his first WBC title defense, but in the 49 kg weight class.

Seigo Yuri Akui began his professional career five months earlier than his opponent. He holds 21 wins, three losses, and one draw. In six of his last seven fights, he won by judges’ decision. The only knockout in this span came in the final round, near the end of the third minute. The Kurashiki native was previously the Japanese flyweight champion, successfully defending his national title three times.
