The national teams of Iceland and Ukraine will face off at the Laugardalsvöllur Stadium in Reykjavík as part of Matchday 7 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Both sides play in Group D, which also features France and Azerbaijan. At the moment, Iceland sit second in the group, while Ukraine are third, trailing by two points.

After two opening games in the qualifiers, Serhiy Rebrov’s team has yet to claim a win. In the first match, Ukraine lost to France 0–2, and then drew 1–1 with Azerbaijan. Iceland earned three points from two games, losing to France 1–2 and defeating Azerbaijan 5–0. In their previous five head-to-head encounters, Iceland have won once, Ukraine twice, and two matches ended in draws.

The most recent meeting took place in March 2024 in the UEFA Euro 2024 play-offs, where Ukraine beat Iceland 2–1 to reach the final stage of the tournament. The referee team for this Group D qualifier will be from Germany. Ukraine trained in Poland before traveling to Reykjavík. In early October 2025, Oleksandr Tymchyk, defender of Dynamo Kyiv, left the national team’s camp.
