Kairat started this season’s Champions League with a 1–4 loss to Sporting Lisbon at José Alvalade. Throughout their history, the Kazakh champions have played eight home matches in the Champions League. Their only heavy defeat was a 0–5 loss to Real Madrid in the second round of this season. In the other seven matches, Kairat conceded just one goal—against Crvena Zvezda in the 2021/22 season.

Pafos are also making their debut in the group stage of the Champions League. In the first round, they held Olympiacos to a 0–0 draw despite playing with ten men. In the second round, Juan Carlos Carcedo’s side suffered a 1–5 defeat to Bayern Munich at Limassol Arena.
