The action takes place in the future when people are deprived of the opportunity to express any emotions, because they are prohibited. This is the price humanity pays for the removal of war from their life. Now, books, art and music are outlawed. And any sense is a crime punishable by death. To enforce the existing rule, a drug enforcement "prozium" is used. A government agent John Preston fights with those who break the rules. At one point, he forgets to take the dose of medication, and the spiritual transformation happens with him and leads him to contradictions with himself and with his superiors.
