The film is set in the late 1960s in the sultry American South. Journalist Ward, along with his younger brother working as a paperboy and friends from London, are trying to find out who really killed the sheriff of a small town, famous for its racist views. A charming Charlotte, who fell in love with the main suspect in the case and tries to save him, joins the motley team. Everyone has their own reasons to participate in this business, but all of them have their own reasons not to be completely honest with friends.
