Three friends, Alek, Zoska, and Rudy, who are scouts graduating from high school in Warsaw, make ambitious plans for their future, which are interrupted by September 1939. They enter adulthood at a dramatic time that places them before the choice of surviving at any cost or joining the fighters for the freedom of their homeland, risking everything. Raised in the spirit of patriotism, they decide to fight, become soldiers, and even though they face death every day, they know how to live life to the fullest even during this cruel time.
