On Identity by Vitalii Skalskyi
On Identity by Vitalii Skalskyi
How is national identity formed, and what factors influence it? How did the centennial war for our independence take place? Why are family stories, shared narratives, and a common view of the historical past important to Ukrainians?
The answers to these and other questions are in a series of short videos by Vitalii Skalskyi, a historian, PhD in History, Director of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Documentation, lecturer at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and researcher of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries' history.
The project “In Search of Identity” was created by the educational organization “Cultural Project”. It helps Ukrainians reboot their knowledge of Ukrainian history and culture, find out the reasons for the events that are taking place today, and find answers to questions about the roots of their own identity.
