On Identity by Tetiana Filevska
On Identity by Tetiana Filevska
What is identity, and how does it manifest itself in a democratic society? How is it influenced by symbols, places of memory, and cultural heritage? What should be the state policy of identity formation, and why do we need to decolonize and work through the traumas of the past?
These and other questions about identity and culture are discussed in a series of short videos by Tetiana Filevska, creative director of the Ukrainian Institute, researcher of the Ukrainian avant-garde, and the work of Kazimir Malevich, curator and art manager.
The project “In Search of Identity” was created by the educational organization “Cultural Project”. It helps Ukrainians reboot their knowledge of Ukrainian history and culture, find out the reasons for the events that are taking place today, and find answers to questions about the roots of their own identity.
