The film takes place in June 1941, when an unexpected guest arrives at Frank's estate in Lviv. It turns out to be Petro's old friend, Andriy Hryshchuk. They started out together in the Plast scouting organization and fell in love with the same woman. Now, war has broken out in the world, and the filmmakers portray the characters' role in history.
