The sheriff dies, Ray Healy catches two bandits, but a third of their gang escapes. Later, the latter, Max, commits a crime, including murder, and swaps horses with the main character. Ray eventually manages to convince the sheriff of his innocence, after which he devises a plan to lure the outlaw into a trap.
