An orphan boy named Hugo lives in the 1930s within the walls of a train station in the French capital. After his father's death, the hero takes care of a giant clock and tries to repair a mysterious mechanism that is supposed to reveal a message from his father. In his search for the key to the mystery, he befriends a girl named Isabelle and an elderly toy shop owner.
