The film covers the events of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Bakhmut direction in September 2023. Mstyslav Chernov and photographer Oleksandr Babenko follow a platoon of Ukrainian soldiers from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade as they attempt to break through a fortified forest to liberate the village of Andriivka. Almost the entire surrounding area is mined, and the village itself is nearly destroyed. The journalists show the soldiers’ lives in trenches and the brutal battles for a crucial counteroffensive foothold.
