Frost
A young man named Rokas, who comes from Lithuania, receive a task to deliver humanitarian supplies to the village Karlovka situated near the epicentre of the conflict in the Donbas region. That's how the drama Frost, a joint project of a creative team from 4 countries: Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania and France, starts. His girlfriend Inga goes with him and they pick up French journalists on the road as well. How dangerous their journey will become after they come closer to the troop deployment locations?
Rokas's romantic idea of war got broken by the cruel reality. As one soldier says: the smell of war is the smell of corpses, we can't allow to crush our Homeland. That's the main idea the author's of the movie wanted to express: the war is not an abstract phenomenon, people die in it here and now.
The movie was included in the Cannes program the Directors' Fortnight and is considered to be the most unordinary work of the Lithuanian movie director. The movie has also a participant of the competitive programme of the Odessa International Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar as the Best movie in a foreign language.
