The Turu hen was born with long legs and an elongated neck, which caused bewilderment, and as a consequence anger and ridicule from other inhabitants of the farm. When it turned out that Turu was not able to lay eggs, she was completely turned into an outcast. Music teacher Isabelle, who is living next door, discovers Turu's incredible ability to understand human speech and even singing. She takes Turu and surrounds her with care. But misfortune parted them, and Turu has to learn how to survive alone.
