The film is based on the musical play "Evita" with the words by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber staged on Broadway by Robert Stigvud and David Lando. Rice and Webber failed to reach the top of their most popular rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar", but nonetheless music lovers and admirers of the director Alan Parker will be able to enjoy the story of a poor girl Eva Duarte, who became the wife of the President of Argentine, Juan Peron.
