This is a film-opera, based on a work by Gulak-Artemovsky "Zaporozhian Cossack beyond the Danube." The action takes place in 1775. A picture is about a difficult situation, which happened with Cossacks after the dissolution of the Cossacks camp. Under the influence of the commanders part of these soldiers are moved to distant parts, ruled by the Sultan of Turkey. However, hopes for a free existence were failed, and the soldiers are demand to return to their homes. But it’s so simple...
