This is a story of Eilis Lacey, who reluctantly leaves her native Irish village and goes in search of work to America. She moves to Brooklyn and having recovered from nostalgia starts enjoying the air of freedom. Soon Eilis falls in love, but tragic news from her home force her to return to Ireland, where she meets another man. Now she has to make a hard choice.
