The creators of the 2024 mini-series Animals Decoding present viewers with a detailed study of the fascinating behavior of animals in the wild. The latter, like people, constantly share traditions and knowledge that they adopt from each other and pass on to future generations. Scientists and specialists in the field of ecology agree for the first time that the culture of representatives of the fauna is also a form of inheritance.

In particular, the authors of the project show how scientists discover how widespread culture has become in populations of different species. There is a wide range of skills and preferences that successfully unite individuals. Viewers get a great opportunity to look at various animals in different parts of the planet in a different way and discover their previously unnoticed cultural repertoire.

Animals Decoding series was produced by the production companies Arte G.E.I.E. and Docland Yard. It was first released in France on January 1, 2024. The director and one of the screenwriters was Hervé Glabeck, who participated in the creation of the documentary The World at a Distance: A Journey into a Special Year, which was awarded the Bavarian Television Prize and a nomination for the German Film Award.

Alexandra Ternant, known for her work on the documentary Battle Sisters, which won the Audience Award at the Namur International Festival of Francophone Film, also joined the team of screenwriters. The editing was handled by Dmitry Darul, who participated in the creation of the project The Duet is Stronger than the Sea, which received an award at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival.
